It’s about as low as you can get, even for a burglar. It happened a couple years ago in Union County, Tennessee. An area resident, Gary Lovedale was away from home helping with the plans for his grandmother’s funeral and when he returned and discovered intruders had broken in and taken many of his valuable items and his puppy.

Loveday said it didn’t make any sense to leave your own home and have most of your personal property gone when you get back. He was also quite distraught over his missing puppy, having already been dealing with the passing of his grandmother.

The police reported that over 40 homes in the area had been hit in a five week period. When this much criminal activity happens in an targeted area, law enforcement agencies advise residents to take precautions to prevent break ins. One of the best proactive steps is installing a home security system with a motion sensor. These are pet-friendly and can be calibrated to allow the movement of family pets around the home.
