• All medications should have childproof caps
• Lock all medicines and toxic products in a cabinet where your children (and pets) can’t reach them
• Leave poisonous substances in their original containers with all the appropriate warnings
• Turn the lights on if you need to give medicine to your child at night
• Absolutely do not tell your child that medication tastes like candy
• Get rid of medications that are past the expiry date
• Keep the area well-ventilated if you open up products that have fumes
• Wear gloves, goggles and other protective clothing when you are using toxic products
